What is Flixter?

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

If you’re into movies like….A LOT, then you’ll probably love this site.

It’s like Myspace but the theme of it is films, tv, etc. You can recommend stuff, meet others who like the same movies/genres as you do, “Gawk At Photos”, there’s even this section with a “Never Ending Movie Quiz” - yikes.

The one thing about the site is that there’s a big ol ad banner right at the top like Myspace and some Google ads sprinkled around some pages other than that it’s FREE.

Just don’t mess with those Sleepless in Seattle fans, they’re just rowdy:)

Here’s the link: Flixster

Match.com on your Mobile Phone?

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

This one is pretty cool. It’ll probably set you back some bucks every month but it’s neat nonetheless.

Match.com is offering to view other people’s profiles now on your cell. Here.

So, hmmmm….that’s bringing some ideas to mind.

So like, if you’re in a city and don’t know anyone, you could
literally just view the profiles for that city right on your cell phone,
no computer, and hang out with some cool people.

Not bad!

Though Myspace has something similar for mobile for free…

one problem with this is the bandwidth usage
cuz your cell phone carrier might charge and charge
and charge you some more because of the data being
transferred to and from your phone.

It’d be good to check out an unlimited cell phone bandwidth plan
although if it’s pricey then this mobile dating stuff might not make
much financial sense.

The following is a response to the blog post, A Jedi Mind Trick that Works…..

Now if only you can use that on a date!!

What is Project Playlist?

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Ever seen someone’s Myspace page with a music jukebox with lots of cool songs?

Wanna get that jukebox on your own Myspace page?

Check out Project Playlist.

You make a free profile, pick whatever songs you like from whatever is available, get the code, then paste in in your Myspace profile.

Warning though, there’s lots of ads and stuff at the site, but it’s not totally unbearable.

Once the songs are picked, just view your Myspace profile and enjoy listening to your songs.

Just click on the song to start playing. Also, sometimes you have to refresh the page if the songs don’t appear right away.

What is MyFoodPhone?

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

I wondered if this one should be mentioned here.

But, what the heck?

If you’re wanting to slim down to look hot on that next

date then here’s a new twist on losing weight. It involves

a cell phone and a community of similar people wanting to

lose weight. They’re watching you(although technically you’re

on the other end of a phone so c’mon!). They’re either rooting

you on or getting on your case so you can look good.

Technology is crazy…but here’s the link, MyFoodPhone

More about Yelp…

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Seems like more than just a review site.

After signing up, one can meet other people similar to Myspace.

Add friends, comment, all the while checking out reviews of places, events and all…kinda neat actually.

It’s not very crowded at present. Meeting other locals in your area is really cool here!

The downside is because it’s not that crowded, the locations aren’t as numerous.

If you wanna check it out, here’s the link again…..Yelp.

I really like this part…..it’s FREE!

What is Yelp?

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

Yelp is a review web site.

There’s a bunch of categories like many other sites.

The one thing about it is the reviews. Real people reviews.

The good, the bad, and the ugly. There’s no shortage of people wanting to share their bad experience with a restaurant, store, club, etc., with others on the net.

It’s not a bad tool to use when looking for the perfect place for a date!

Lasik - Wondering about it…

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Wanna lose the glasses and show off that nice face of yours?

There’s a lot of stuff on the radio about different types of Lasik.

So checking around at these sites:Wikipedia and Lasik Option Guide, one might wonder just how safe this stuff is.

It seems ok but I think anyone would just feel safer knowing all about it before putting their eyes in front of a super powerful laser.
